.: Pat McCumiskeys 1/35th Quad Gun Tractor

One of Tamiyas classics , this is a great kit. Though old it goes together well and builds up to a great looking model. This example Pat's built is in the European Scheme and represents a vehicle from the 7th Armoured Division. That being Brtiain famous "Desert Rats"

The Morris Quad was a very successful towing vehicle for the 25 Pounder field gun and the 17 Pounder anti-tank gun. The early Morris Quads had a beetle shaped body but this was changed in 1944 to a boxier shape with a canvas roof, like the one pictured above. They were used throughout WW2 and also the Korean War, proving how successful they were. An airborne version was also produced, which was cut down to the bare essentials for transportation in a Hamilcar glider, as a towing vehicle for the 17pdr anti tank gun. However, the airborne version was also widely used as the standard soft skin tractor for the 17 pounder.
