Dragons new 1/35th Tiger tank crew Normandy 1944

The SA-9 GASKIN is a short-range, low-altitude self-propelled SAM-carrying system based on the BRDM-2 chassis. The vehicle carries quadruple SA-9 SAM launchers on a revolving mount in place of the KPV/PK machine gun turret. The missiles are usually fired in pairs against each target to increase the kill probability, with an interval between rounds of about five seconds. Reloading is performed manually and takes about five minutes.

New from Alley Cat are the following

1/48 WW2 FAA Pilot Hot Climate

Sculpted By : Jim Raynor

His parachute harness is of the Irvin seat type with twist quick release barrel buckle. His Mae West is of the 1939-1940 pattern (these are very similar except the 1939 is much paler in colour – almost a tan rather than a distinctive yellow), as the navy often had to make do with much older equipment as new supply of improved models went directly to the RAF.
He wears stanard officers shoes in black leather and Khaki/tropical airtex shirt and trousers for officers, his gloves are of the short type in single ply soft kid leather. Sometimes these were substituted with driving gloves bought directly or privately from a gentlemans outfitters.
His helment is of the C-type, this although looks very similare to the B-type “Zipear” of Battle of Britain fame is a very different helmet, this is the standard RAF C-type leather helmet with “Zipears” added to accommodate the Navy electronics. These helmets were worn by the Royal Navy and RAF Coastal command exclusively and the goggles are of the MKII type.

1/48 WW2 FAA Pilot Cold Climate

Sculpted By : Jim Raynor

In the freezing Atlantic ocean,  many aviators lost their lives due to inadequate clothing in the early years of naval aviation.
This led the Royal Navy and RAF developing and using the famous Irvine flight jacket, this jacket is of mid brown shearling colour and is much thicker and heavier than the more commonly seen USAAF B-3 sheepskin.
These jackets were very heavy and were issued to the RN crews for use over water, as well as standard cold weather issue conditions. His trousers are standard officers black trousers and shoes again standard for officers. He wears a scarf tucked inside his jacket collar and his parachute harness , is the Irvine seat type with twist quick release barrel buckle,  the seat type is made by Irvine (not related to the flight jacket).
His gloves again are made of kid leather and his helmet is the same as Navy Type-C. He also wears the 1939 or 1940 Mae West life preserver.

The Nagato-class battleships of the Imperial Japanese Navy were the first in the world to mount huge 16-inch guns in their main turrets. Until the massive Yamato-class battleships were built, the Nagato and Mutsu were the most powerful ships in the IJN. The Mutsu saw action at Pearl Harbor, the Battle of Midway, and the Solomons Campaign. The Mutsu was sunk while moored in Hiroshima Bay by a mysterious explosion that blew the ship in two, with the loss of 1,121 of her sailors.

This kit of the Mutsu from Hasegawa features superb molding and details, with 823 parts (including three entirely new sprues of parts to build the Mutsu from the original Nagato kit ) to create one of the most accurate and detailed 1/350 ship models yet. The hull features bulkheads to offer greater structural integrity, the characteristic towering "pagoda" bridge structure is perfectly recreated, and the three Type 95 Reconnaissance Seaplanes are painstakingly detailed. The kit also includes a fret of photo-etched metal parts for railings and other details, and full-size marking, painting, rigging, and reference charts in 1/350 scale. Includes comprehensive instructions in Japanese and English, as well as a 13-page booklet of Mutsu facts and photos, also in Japanese and English.

Dragon's new 1/35 Sd.Kfz.138/1 Geschützwagen 38 M für s.IG.33/2

Dragon’s superlative kit features a newly tooled s.IG.33/2 gun, which is based on intensive research conducted on actual weapons. The gun is fully detailed, including the carriage, while the rifling grooves inside the aluminum gun barrel have a realistically reproduced twist. Another exciting feature is Dragon’s “Razor Edge” molding technology that replicates the original vehicles’ armor plates with ultra-thin precision in 1/35 scale. All the interior detail of the open-topped fighting compartment is also faithfully rendered. Widespread use is made of multimedia materials such as photo-etched metal to give the highest degree of finesse. This exciting new artillery model from Dragon should receive a barrage of applause from fans of German artillery pieces!

Revell's new 1/35 Sherman Rocke Launcher & 1/48 Chinook

The medium M4 Sherman tank was built in larger numbers than any other and was the standard tank used by the Allies in the Second World War. There were about 50 different variants including the one with T34 rocket launcher dating from 1944. This unusual variant arose from the US Army requirement to mount artillery rockets on tanks in order to reinforce the conventional artillery. When the T40 rocket launcher with 7.2 inch rockets proved unsatisfactory in 1943, the improved T34 rocket launcher with 4.5 inch rockets was used from 1944 onwards. Very small numbers of this vehicle nicknamed the "Calliope" were used in the European theatres of war until 1945.

Model-details:
- Detailed T34 rocket launcher with 60 tubes
- Structural details shown on surfaces
- True-to-original vinyl tracks
- Hatches can be shown open or closed
- 75 mm cannon and rocket launcher with adjustable elevation
- Rotating gun turret
- Decals for 2 US Army versions

The Chinook is a medium-lift tactical transport helicopter, that for many years has been used throughout the globe for heavy-duty battlefield support. The HC Mk 1 version used by the RAF is based on the US Army CH-47C model that has been built since the late 1960s. The original design dates back to the 1950s, when the US Army needed a helicopter for greater transport mobility. It flew for the first time in 1961. During the Vietnam War the Chinook was used for transporting supplies, troops and weapons to the front line. In March 1980, the Royal Air Force received its first 33 converted Chinook HC.1s, which served in 3 squadrons. A special feature of these machines was that they were equipped with a 3-point cargo handling system with lifting hook for external loads up to 9.5 tons. This version later received larger rotor blades made of fibreglass and a hydraulic winch. The carrying capacity is 44 fully equipped soldiers or 24 stretchers with wounded. The title version shown here for No. 18 Squadron was presented in 1990 at the 75th anniversary celebrations. In total over 506 of the CHJ-47C helicopter were produced.

Model-details:
- Structural details on surfaces, recessed panel lines
- Detailed cockpit with multi-part seats
- Textured cargo compartment floor and detailed side wall coverings
- Load compartment with bench seats
- Movable main rotors
- 2 engines with mesh on the air intakes
- Decals for RAF 75 Anniversary No. 18 Sqn Gütersloh and 75th Anniversary No. 7 Sqn Odiham versions

And Finally released by itself is this High-quality 1/48 scale model of the U.S. Army Staff Car, which was widely-used by Allied forces. 2 types of markings included to depict both military and civilian vehicles. Includes 1 driver figure.

In America it was given the official name "ZX-14" but is more widely recognized by its nickname "Ninja". The ZX-14 is currently known as the world's most powerful sports motorcycle. The motorcycle also featured a tandem seat fairing and an under diffuser. In addition to the standard coloring, a fire pattern livery was given to the American market for special use. 1/35 RC German Panther G Late from Tamiya

Tamiya 1/35 radio-controlled armor is back! Leading the way is a new kit of the Panther G Late version...with more types to follow, or so say the fine folks at Tamiya. They have miniaturized the motors and gearboxes even further to fit inside the Panther hull (previous Tamiya 1/35 RC kits were the much larger Tiger I, Tiger II, M1A1 Abrams, and Leopard 2A5 tanks)--small enough, they say, to fit inside even a 1/35 Sherman (wink wink, nudge nudge!).

Aside from the all-new electronics, a new lower hull has been tooled, allowing easy battery access from the underside (previous 1/35 RC tanks required the removal of the entire upper hull to change the batteries). Other than that, the exterior is Tamiya's excellent Panther G Late kit.

This new Panther kit features a four-channel RC system, allowing a full range of movement plus turret rotation and main gun elevation and depression. The movement is realistically slow, accurately conveying the weight of this massive iron beast. No Keystone Cops here; slow and heavy, like a Panther ought to be!

All electronics and mechanical gizmos are pre-assembled and simply need to be installed into the tank chassis, made even simpler by the use of easy-to-connect cables with connectors. Turret rotation time is noted as 25 seconds for a full 360-degree rotation. The main gun can be elevated 7 degrees and depressed 8 degrees. While the road wheels of course roll, the suspension arms are not sprung in any way (that is, the suspension is not functional. The suspension arms are molded as part of the lower chassis). Tracks are provided as flexible one-piece belts that have already been connected for you. Requires four AAA batteries for the tank and one 9v battery for the transmitter, sold separately. Boxtop info indicates an approximate 40-minute continuous running time on one set of batteries.

Tamiya's 1/48th US Army staff car. ( Pre Assembled )

America was the first country in the world to mass-produce automobiles, and had the capacity to produce 4 million vehicles per year in the years leading up to WWII. As hostilities commenced, this industrial might was directed to the war effort, and many civilian vehicle models were modified for military service as staff cars. Used by high level officers, the cars were also used to transport pilots to and from their aircraft.

★Length: 101mm ★Soft, rounded form of the staff car is accurately modelled, including the distinctive fenders. ★Die-cast chassis for added weight and realism. ★Professionally-finished olive drab paint scheme also features realistic light weathering effects. ★High-quality pad-printed markings. ★Comes in a compact cube-shaped packaging.

An American company actually manufacturing toys in the USA is a real novelty. "Some people think we're a dinosaur, but I'm proud of what we do, and I enjoy it, said Al Smith of P.K. Guillow Co.

The latest recalls of Chinese products have created a big opportunity for American companies and companies, like Guillow, are ready to pounce. "We'll gear up first and then consider options like possibly putting a label on our catalogue that says proud to be made in the USA," Smith said. It's one product the Chinese haven't been able to manufacture. Still, there are challenges. "With Chinese prices so low, it is a problem, but we can offer something with the safety and security of knowing something is made right here in the USA," Smith said.

All of the materials for the planes are made in the USA except the balsa wood itself, which grows in Ecuador and must be imported. The Guillow Company employs about 45 workers.

Coming soon from Anigrand Craftswork is this 1/144 th Kawasaki Ki-91

Kawasaki Ki-91. In early 1943, as the war situation worsened, Nakajima had to develop a very long-range Fugaku bomber which could be able to mount bombing raids against targets along America's western seaboard. The Fugaku project impressed the Japanese Army and Navy. However, it was deemed too complex, and would not be available in service. The Japan Army shifted quickly away from the project and sought to other possible development from Kawasaki. Kawasaki began investigating a four-engines bomber design which compared configuration to the American B-29, it was proving to be a superior airplane to the best of the bombers then in service. The design was accepted and was given designation Ki-91. A flying prototype was started from a drawing board but progress was slow by lack of required materials. In February of 1945, the Ki-91 prototype was partially completed but work was forced to cease, as all the facilities to complete the Ki-91 in Kawasaki's plant were destroyed by bombing raids from B-29s.

And Sukhoi T-4MS

Sukhoi T-4MS VG. wing bomber competed against Tu-160. In 1967, the USAF launched a program of the B-1 Lancer supersonic-strategic bomber which has a blended wing body configuration, with variable-sweep wing and four turbofan engines. The USSR prompted to maintain the strategic balance. A requirement for the research and development of a new bomber was issued to three design bureaus which resulted as Myasishchev M-18, Sukhoi T-4MS and Tupolev 160. The Sukhoi T-4MS was based on an earlier T-4 Sotka supersonic bomber. It was codenamed "S-200" as it's take off weight approached 200 tons. In 1972, the three designs were presented to the Ministry of Aviation Industry. The T-4MS was chosen as the winner of the competition. However, the USSR Air Force felt that Sukhoi would be unable to handle the T-4MS development as the bureau was already involved many new fighters projects. Sukhoi was ordered to stop the development and transfer all the research works of the T-4MS to Tupolev bureau. Tupolev declined the offer and continued the "Article160" design with variable geometry wing which became the Tu-160 Blackjack bomber.

Dragon has announced the launch of a new 1/32 scale kit of a Bf110C-7.

This version being a fighter-bomber based on the C-4/B. It was powered by uprated DB 601P engines and had two ETC-500 centerline bomb racks that could carry two 500kg bombs. This model is notable in that it’s the first “Wing Tech” kit, Dragon’s name for a new line of aircraft kits that parallels the famous “Smart Kit” line of 1/35 scale armored vehicles. This means the kit is brimming with high-tech innovations such as slide-molded components and multimedia parts, yet all the while remaining easy and pleasurable to assemble. Panel lines are molded in three different depths, while the sophisticated engine is fully detailed. Individual parts have an excellent fit, plus all the detail inside the cockpit is fully represented. This Bf 110C-7 is a fitting successor to Dragon’s first ever 1/32 scale aircraft kit – a P-51 Mustang – and with its Wing Tech identity, it surely marks a milestone in this scale of model aircraft!

Eduards 1/48th Royal Class BF110 twin Kit

Bf 110 Royal Class All the previous Royal Class kits were among the most successful Eduard sellers, and we would expect that this will be too. This kit is in the style of the Fw 190A-8 Royal Class edition, with two complete kits in the box, and a rich assortment of accessories and special bonuses. Comparing this kit with the basic Bf 110E and C kits, the plastic parts bring some significant changes. The most important change is the optional “long” fuselage for the Bf 110D and some Bf 110Es. Another additional frame provides the optional engine nacelles for the Bf 110E Trop, with the large bottom cowl oil coolers. Another important new addition is the FuG 202 Lichtenstein BC radar aerial, which is composed of plastic and photo-etched parts

.

With respect to the accessories, this boxing includes nine photoetched sets and three resin parts. The photo-etched sets contain the usual mix of additional details, and the resin parts are of the dust filters as seen on many aircraft flown on the Eastern front. The instruction sheet contains 38 pages, including 12 pages of painting and marking options. Another eight pages contain the PE set instructions. Twelve pages of the painting guide correspond to twelve options, naturally. There is a mix of all three main versions, the C,D and E, with many alternatives, such as night fighters and aircraft with the famous “Dackelbauch”, the large underbelly fuel tank. It is not necessary to describe all of the versions, just see the attached pictures, as they speak volumes of the release. To cover all selected marking versions, we created two large decal sheets, printed by the famous Cartograph company in Italy. There are also two special bonuses in the box.

The Iron Cross replica follows the Royal Class tradition, and adds a new piece to the collection of WW I and WW II awards and badges. It is, as usual, a full metal piece. Each of the Royal Class kits brings something new, and this Bf 110 is no exception. We decided to create a ¼ scale kit of the Bf 110 instrument panel. See the attached pictures showing the built-up model. The kit is detailed to a very high standard, with a plastic base and instrument frames, and the faces of the instruments being represented by color stickers. The instruments needles are color photo-etch, as well as the placards and instruction tabs and other details on the panel surface. Altogether, this is a very complex kit in the best sense of the word, and simply looks great! It’s not a difficult build, all parts are made in their correct color, making painting unnecessary….just gluing the parts together. Although the price is not cheap, this total package brings great value for the money. On opening, one will be struck by how chock full the box is, with no free space inside. The edition is limited to 2,100 pcs, with 400 pcs of a special German edition. In this “German” version, we replace the Iron Cross replica with a resin set of exhausts and ammunition boxes, along with a crystal clear vacuformed canopy.

How much you ask ?? around $240.00 aud

Aerotech are due to release this pretty 1/32 Macchi M39 "Won't be cheap" with estimates of around $300 - $400 "ouch"

The Tom Daniel's Rommel Rod has long since been a kit modelers have been wanting reissued for a long time. The old mold has been gone for many a year, surrounded in mystery (ship sank with the mold, train wreck, take your pick of story..).

Fast forward to today. Moebius Models has announced that it is going to bring back this kit, in an all new form. It will be the basic kit we have all come to know and recognize, but the scale is yet to be determined, and the company has said they are going to add some new goodies to make this kit design even better than the original.

They are even interested in your comments, so be sure and drop them an email on their site and let them know what you think.

They still haven't decided whether to do it in 1/24 or 1/16 scale!
