.: Min's 1/700th Tone Cruiser by Aoshima

It is hard to pick the most representative Japanese heavy cruiser. Some authorities think that the Tone class, the last built by the Imperial Japanese Navy, were also the best. And in some ways they were. But they were designed as special purpose scout cruisers for the fleet, and carried all 8-8in guns forward in order to leave the quarter-deck free for handling float planes (the Japanese used float planes from their cruisers rather than carrier based planes as scouts). In service, they were very successful ships.
