.: Easy Concrete.
Heres one of the easiest ways to achieve a realistic looking concrete runway. This effect best suits scales of 1/48 and larger.
.: What you'll need.
- Cement Sheeting / Tile Underlay this can be purcahsed from a Tile Shop or some Hardware Stores.
- Something to cut the Sheeting
- A Dental Pick / Scriber
- A Rule
- A Wide Bristle Brush
- Black Water Color Paint
- A Handful of Dry Soil / Earth
- A Rag
- A Facemask - as cement sheet fibres can be hazardous to your health !

Ok here we have our wide bristled brush, rule , black water color @ dental pick.
Next we have our cement sheeting and cutting tool.
Please note the fibres from cement sheeting can be dangerous, make certain you wear a face mask...

Cut the sheet to your desired size.

Then scribe lines on your base, this replicates real concrete joints.

Mix a fairly heavy wash of black water color.

And start to flood coat the cement sheet all over.Iif the color looks to dark please dont panic as most will be absorbed by the sheet.

As you can see below the sheet is starting to absorb the color, so a few coats may be desired. But thats totally upto you.

Once dry heres what your cement sheet will look like.

Ok now grab a fistful of dry soil, here i'm using a fairly rich color.
Simply sprinkle the soil all over you base.

And with the palm of you hand rub in the soil all over.

With that done shake and brush away excess soil

Now with an old cloth vigoursly rub the soil into the base, this will even the soil out and remove any excess.

Just add a few weeds and oils stains , and the base will instantly come to life.
